40 Mile Swim Plays Beach Towel Boogie!
It’s time to sign up for the 2015 edition of Venetian’s 40 Mile Swim Challenge. Sign up before opening day and you’ll get your 32nd mile FREE!
This year, you have the opportunity to earn a great big soft and thick beach towel with the 40 Mile Swim logo when you swim 40 miles between May 9 and the end of September. When you arrive at the pool you’ll find a new aqua blue binder at the front desk, and, if you’ve already signed up, you will have a personalized page divided into half mile segments (popular request) upon which to record your mileage as you swim it. Pages will be organized in the book, alphabetically.
To register May 9 and later, there will be blank recording sheets for you in a pocket of the notebook. Please write your name and email on the page and place it in the notebook—preferably in alphabetical order. It would be really helpful if you could shoot me an email at mayahahn@att.net and let me know you’ve signed up. (Thanks)
The 40 Mile Swim Challenge is open to all members, old and young. Kickboards and swim fins are allowed.
NEW THIS YEAR: The 40 Mile Swim has its own bulletin board section. Look on the poolside of the entry kiosk for announcements and special interest articles—you can also post there, as well. At this time there’s a good article on choosing the proper ear plugs for swimming and some additional information on waterproof mp3 players. And, of course, our plaque is hanging up, with Jessica Landisman Williams, who swam over 190 miles last summer, engraved as the 2014 top swimmer. Maybe your name will be on it next summer.
More than 55 members have already signed up for the 40 Mile Swim Challenge. Why don’t you, too? Just send mayahahn@att.net an email before May 9 and you’ll get your 32nd mile free.
