Early Lap Swim Starts Tomorrow
What a treat—slipping into the blue pool lit by the underwater lights and doing laps as the sun rises! Early lap swim starts tomorrow, Tuesday, at 6 a.m. The hours have been expanded until the 8:30 a.m. swim practice in June and then until 10 a.m. for the rest of the season. And the days have been expanded to Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (except the Fourth of July). So roll out of bed and into the pool, especially you 40 Mile Challengers!
Home Swim Meet Tomorrow—Pool Closes at 4
The first Poolsharks swim meet is tomorrow at Venetian with Briarmoor Manor. The pool will close at 4 p.m. for the swim meet. Hope those new starting blocks send off a big Venetian win. GoOoOoOOOoo, Poolsharks!
Let’s Make Waves—Poolsharks Fundraiser
Come make waves at the Venetian Poolsharks fundraiser for those new starting blocks on Saturday, June 8, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. There will be food ($5 for Pool Shark sliders, chips & coleslaw), a “split the pot”, diving contests, homemade desserts, and live music. Click under Events for the flyer. Admit it—they had you at the Pool Shark sliders….
A Call to the 40 Mile Challenge
Calling all lap swimmers, new and experienced alike! The pool is warming up and there is still plenty of time to sign up for the 40 Mile Swim Challenge. Look for the notebook at the front desk to sign up. Even if you do not make 40 miles this summer, it is a great way to track your laps (you may be surprised). There are plenty of hot days ahead of us when that cool water will feel reeeeal good. For more information, please click the Events tab or contact mayahahn@att.net.
Ribbon Cutting Report
Venetian celebrated its newly renovated pools with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 18. The leveled and replastered pools with new gutter systems were a culmination of several years of planning and six months of construction. Cheryl Graves, president of the Board, did the honors with the ceremonial scissors, assisted by Philip (Flip) Hager, 2012 president of the Board.
Paul Thim presented Flip with a hand-crafted tray created from tiles removed from the pool during the renovation, a token of thanks for all of his efforts in making this project a reality.
Check Out Those Grills
Have you fired one of the new grills up yet? Many thanks go to Deanna Pope who helped us design the improved layout and to Rick Smith who installed the grills.
