Pool Parking Lot Closed Thursday and Friday

The pool parking lot will be getting much-needed sealing and striping today, Thursday, and Friday.  No cars or people will be able to access the parking lot during this time. 

40 Mile Swim Challenge

The second annual Venetian Pools 40 Mile Swim Challenge is now registering for the 2013 season. Those who did it last year will tell you how much fun it was. Best of all, there is no charge to you, no age requirement, no obligation to finish, and, if you sign up before May 11, your first mile is absolutely FREE! So, why not sign up now?

 

To join this year’s challenge, email mayahahn@att.net and a record sheet with your name will be waiting for you in the notebook at the front desk on Opening Day, May 11. There will also be blank sheets for registering at the pool.  Note that signing up after May 10 will not earn you a free mile.  For more information and FAQ’s look under the Events tab. 

 

New this year, scales  will be in both locker rooms for an optional way to keep track of your health. Swimming is great cardiovascular exercise without undue stress on most of your body. Plus, you can do it lying down in cool water. What could be better on a hot July day?

 

Last season, pool members swam a total of over 2200 miles; we can exceed that this summer. If we all swim 4000 miles, we can make it to Dublin, Ireland. A few miles more takes us to Paris, France or Madrid, Spain. Wouldn’t you like to go there with fellow Venetian swimmers?

Poolshark Spirit Night, April 30

Come support the Venetian Poolsharks for Spirit Night at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers in Decatur!  Mention the Venetian Poolsharks, the finest swim team in town, when you order on Tuesday, April 30, between the hours of 5 pm and 10 pm, and Mellow Mushroom will donate 10% of all dine-in, take-out or delivery to the Poolsharks! Mellow Mushroom is located in the Commerce Square Shopping Center at 265 Ponce De Leon Place, Decatur, GA 30030.  You can also order by phone, 404-370-0008.  Tell your friends, family, co-workers and other favorite people to come out and support the Venetian Poolsharks at Mellow Mushroom in Decatur on the 30th!  It is quick, easy, delicious and one less night you have to cook at home. 

Thanks for your Work Day Efforts

A  HUGE thank you to all the members who volunteered their time last Saturday to get the pool ready for the 2013 summer season.  We had a really great turnout.  The list of what was accomplished is incredible…..the snack bar is now sparkling and ready for the season, kick boards were scrubbed clean by the kids , benches were refinished, planters were planted and that massive pile of junk behind the pool house is gone! 

Found: Venetian Guest Passes from Work Day

Venetian Pool Guest Passes were found in the parking lot of Medlock Park last Sunday.   We are guessing they were from someone’s hard work the day before.  Click reply if they are yours.

Party Reservation

The reservation process for parties at the pool will begin on Opening Day, May 11.  The reservation process is being revised this year, so look for details on the website or in upcoming eSplashes.  The pool will be available for parties during open pool hours.  The pool is not available for parties during:

  • ·         Opening Weekend
  • ·         Memorial Day Weekend—Sat, Sun, Mon
  • ·         July 4th
  • ·         Labor Day Weekend—Sat, Sun, Mon
  • ·         During Swim Team practice
  • ·         Before 3 PM during Summer Camp
  • ·         During Swim Team meets at home
  • ·         Any Friday after 5 PM
  • ·         Special pool events such as Swim-a-thon, Luau

Swim Lessons

Swim lesson sign up will begin on Opening Day, May 11, at the front desk.  Instructions for signing up are under the Membership tab.

Ribbon Cutting for Pool Opening

Plan to come to the ribbon cutting for our newly renovated pool at 10 a.m. on Opening Day, Saturday, May 11!  The celebration will include a slide show of the renovation work performed since last October.
