From the VPCA President
Fellow Venetian members-
We hope you and your family have enjoyed the summer, and we hope you have been able to visit our little summertime oasis on Scott Boulevard this season!
As many of you know, our current Vice President and Membership Chairperson, Cheryl Graves, along with her membership committee, has been reviewing our membership program for the past year. Their goal has been to review any changes that might be necessary to best position the pool for the future. This review has included numerous committee meetings, extensive research, and two town hall meetings this summer to give members an opportunity to provide input about what form our membership offering should be going forward.
Please take a moment to review the proposed bylaw modifications (known as Amendments 11 & 12), for which the majority of the Board recommends approval. We hope that you will vote, and we hope that you will support our vision for the future.
Thank you.
Flip Hager, President
Luau Fun
Join us for delicious fare with fantastic live tunes from two local bands, the Grits and the Dammages, at the 2012 Venetian Luau tomorrow, August 18, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.! Thanks for all your RSVPs and beer votes. Plates are $5 each and include pig, corn and this year, beans. Please note that there are no child portions. If you split a plate among children or have them share with you, pay an additional amount that you feel is fair. Exact change or checks will be appreciated. We may or may not have leftovers, but consider bringing some foil or tupperware in case we do! The beer selection is a close race. Lucie, events-volunteers@venetianpools.org , is still accepting votes from those who have not yet weighed in. Please note that we will be crowded, so come early and consider bringing some beach chairs! Thanks very much for your enthusiasm; the musicians, the chefs, and everyone involved are looking forward to it.

Missing Cat
Greco is a big black cat with white paws, belly, and chin and light green eyes, who lives at Emory Chase Condos but summers at Venetian pools. He has been missing for about two weeks, which isn’t like him. Please reply if you have seen him or know anything about him.
More on the Master Plan
Thanks to all who participated in last Sunday’s Town Hall on the proposed draft Master Plan. There were a lot of great ideas flying about. A committee has formed to further discuss and revise it.
Pool Renovations Planned for Off-Season
At this week’s meeting, the VPCA Board of Directors voted to go forward with renovating the pool gutters for improved efficiency in keeping the pool clean and with replastering the pool. This will be financed with reserve funds and a one-time $50 assessment per each membership with the 2013 February dues. Waterworks will be in charge of the project, which will begin after the pool closes for the season and will be completed before May 2013.
Work on Your Stroke
Andrejs Duda will be conducting stroke clinics for Venetian adult swimmers on Mondays from 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the pool. The first clinic is this Monday, August 20, and the clinics will continue for 4 weeks if there is Fall Extended Swim. The fee is $15 for 1 hour session. To sign up, contact Andrejs at dudaa123@gmail.com.
