40 Mile Swim Update – Towels are Here!
Attention, 40 Mile Swim Challengers:
The towels have arrived!
This year the reward for achieving 40 miles of swimming—in addition to better health and a feeling of accomplishment– is a big (30 x 70”), lush, soft beach towel with the 40 Mile Swim logo embroidered on it. The towel is the same size and quality as the aqua towels we had a few years ago and that, you may have noticed at Venetian this summer, are still in use. We purchased them from a local distributor, www.towelhub.com, and they have been beautifully embroidered by Robin Ackerman, a Decatur resident.
If you have completed your 40 miles prior to 1:00 pm, Friday, August 23, your towel will be available at the front desk today. If you finish after today, please text Joanne Hauserman at 404-593-9165 with your first and last names and the words: 40MILES and she will bring it to the pool within the next day or so. Your towel will be ready after you complete your 40 miles. You must get your towel no later than September 30. Your towel will be labeled with your name and there will be a list of names. Please put a check in the column next to your name when you pick it up.
Every year more and more members complete the 40 Mile Swim Challenge. Most who do actually exceed 40 miles. The challenge is open to members of all ages and those who finish range from teens to seniors. The top swimmer’s name is engraved on our 40 Mile plaque which is displayed on our bulletin board. It’s fun and it’s achievable even if you only swim a little each time you visit Venetian. If you didn’t enter this year, think about doing it next summer.
See you in the lap lanes!
