Spring Work Day—Tomorrow, Saturday April 21!
Our spring Work Day is TOMORROW! This is the day when we do the all-important preparations to get out facilities ready for the upcoming season, and it is a great social event. We need help with:
- Lots of cleaning – the Bath Houses, the Snack Bar, the Office. Cleaning supplies are provided.
- Re-sealing the wooden deck (after making any needed repairs).
- Re-staining the picnic tables, benches and planters.
- Inspecting and repairing the climbing structure.
- Throwing out trash. (We rent a dumpster for the day and usually fill it.)
- Planting annuals, spreading pine straw.
- Cleaning the grills thoroughly.
- And much more…
The day begins at 8:00 a.m. with juice, coffee, bagels and donuts. Lunch will be served at noon. And you earn guest passes—one book of guest passes for every two hours worked per household. We will be working until about 5:00 p.m. In case of rain, the Work Day will be held on Sunday, April 22.
Hope to see you there; come when it’s convenient for you. Many hands make light work!
Swim Team Open House – Sunday
Meet the Swim Coaches THIS SUNDAY at the Swim Team Open House from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Dance Hall.
Great News for Swimmers and Audiophiles
Hello, Swimmers, old and new:
Only two more weeks to pre-register for the 40 Mile Swim Challenge 2018 and receive your 18th mile FREE. You can always register after May 5—there will be blank record sheets in the 40 Mile Swim Challenge notebook—but you can only qualify for the 18th mile free if you sign up prior to May 5. Remember, if you made or exceeded 40 miles last summer, you are automatically enrolled this summer. To register, email firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll sign you up.
This year, underwateraudio.com is offering Venetian members a 10% discount on all their products. They’ve added a lot of new items to their product line, including Fitbits, goggles, workouts, swim caps—and even waterproof Kindles for those who like to read in the pool! One of the most exciting new products is an 8 gigabyte MP3 player, SYRYN, for only $60 ($54 with Coupon Code). SYRYN doesn’t require I tunes to add music or podcasts; you can download directly from your computer. Reviews on the website all sing its praises.
I’ve been working with www.underwateraudio.com products for several years and I can highly recommend the company. Their products are excellent and their customer service is personal and professional and quite helpful. I know a lot of Venetian members have purchased waterproof I pods from them and will agree. Even if you don’t swim, you can use the I pod or the SYRYN for working out, running, walking, or just sitting around. If you have an old, unwaterproofed I pod, you can send it to them and they’ll waterproof it.
I will be at workday, this Saturday, setting up our 40 Mile bulletin board, on the pool side of the entry kiosk. Be sure to check it when you come to the pool this summer for more 40 Mile Swim news and offers. And feel free to contact me with questions about the 40 Mile Swim Challenge, now in it’s seventh summer.
