Diving Board Update
The decision was made by the Board on Tuesday, after consultation with the Pool Management, to close the diving board. The surface of the diving board has become worn causing it to be very slippery.
The Board and Pool Management are looking at options, including re-surfacing the existing board or replacing the diving board.
The safety of our members is our primary concern and we appreciate your patience.
Grill Etiquette
The gas grills at Venetian are provided for our members use (and were refurbished this spring to improve their operation). However, we ask those of you who enjoy using them to please clean the grilling surface when you are finished cooking your food. Also, please check the grease trap and if it is getting full, please empty it into the trash can (preferably AFTER putting the grease into a disposable can or cup to contain it). Also, the grill tools are not provided by Venetian. They have been donated or left by members. If you want to be sure you have the proper tools for grilling, please consider bringing you own from home.
Lost & Found
Missing a pair of swimming goggles? A towel or T-shirt? Please check our lost and found. The Lost & Found items are located on the racks at the entrance to the women’s locker room. When the amount of items becomes unmanageable, items will be taken home by one of our members, washed, and donated to a charity.
Reminder: VPCA Thunder and Lightening Policy
Based on recommendations of National Weather Service, American Red Cross, National Lightning Institute and OSHA, our thunder and lightning policy is as follows.
At the first sound of thunder or sighting of lightning, lifeguards are to clear the pool, the pool deck area and other outdoor areas within the pool fence. No patrons who are within the pool area are to remain outdoors, due to the danger of being struck by lightning. They need to go in the dance hall or the bath houses.
Additionally, heavy rains can also cause the pool to be closed…if our lifeguards cannot clearly see the bottom of the pool, ALL swimmers, regardless of ability to swim, will be asked to exit the pool until the rain abates.
We understand that this has been a rainy, stormy summer so far…but again, the lifeguards primary responsibility is the safety of our members and guests! If you wish to discuss VPCA policies, please contact the Venetian Pool manager, Colm Jenkins (venetianmanager@venetianpools.org) or any member of the VPCA board.
This policy is for the safety of pool patrons. Please take the time to read the attached document for supporting information.
Weekday Pool Hours Changing as of Monday, 31 July
It’s hard to believe that some area students (some of whom are our lifeguards!) will be heading back to school on Monday, 31 July. At this time of the year, Venetian pool hours change to a slightly later opening time (1 PM during the week; Saturday and Sunday hours remain the same). So, before you head to the pool, remember to check the calendar on our Web page (https://venetian2.pooldues.com/) for current pool hours.
