Safety First!
Message from the Board of Directors
As opening day quickly approaches and we get ready to enjoy a great summer season at Venetian Pools, please remember that safety in and around our pool is our first priority. Swim Atlanta and the lifeguards and staff do a fantastic job of monitoring the pool and keeping things running smoothly, but members and their guests should also take reasonable precautions to ensure their own safety. Please be vigilant and mindful of the safety of our members and their guests!
- It is extremely important to never leave any child unattended who cannot swim or whose ability to swim is limited
- Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings
- Have a phone close by at all times (a phone is located at the front desk)
- If a child is missing, check the pool first
- Share safety instructions with family and friends
- No glass/ceramic of any kind allowed at the pool! If you can’t leave it at home, then leave it in your vehicle!
Notice Anything New at the Pool?
Make sure you look UP as you walk into Venetian tomorrow and check out the new roofs on all our buildings. Then venture back to the playground area and admire the new play structure!
Pat Solomon and Lisa Hill, VPCA board members and the co-chairs of our Facilities and Grounds committee, have been very busy this spring getting bids from roofing contractors, setting up and supervising spring work day, purchasing a new play structure for the playground, and last, but not least, making sure all systems are go for opening day tomorrow!
Below are a couple of photos: 1) showing Pat and Lisa, when it was much colder out, making the difficult decision about which roofing shingle would look best and 2) our younger swim team members enjoying the new play structure. Thanks to Flip Hager and April Gabor for the photos!

Thank You to All Who Helped With Spring Work Day!
Remember to say thanks to the following 41 (out of 510) members and families who spent a long day on a beautiful, sunny Saturday in April making sure that the pool areas were thoroughly spring-cleaned, inside and out; beds and pots were rejuvenated and replanted with lovely plants and flowers (thanks Deanna Pope for designing these lovely spaces!); our gas grills were cleaned and now shine like new (thanks Tony Powers of Intown Ace Hardware for new “innards” for all our grills!); and, the list goes on and on:

A HUGE thanks to Pat and Doug Solomon, John Hall, Todd Hill and Flip Hager (Venetian wouldn’t run without Flip!) for ensuring that all of the long list of tasks were completed and the pool was left shiny and clean, all ready for opening day. And to Michele Hicks for making sure we were all caffeinated, fed and hydrated! And one more big thank you to Alex Schaefer for coming out a day early to pressure wash so the months of grime were slaked back for the cleaning crew!
If you did not receive your book of guest passes for working, please get in touch with Pat Solomon (pdsolomons@yahoo.com).
…to Venetian!
New Member Welcoming/Orientation Party is Saturday, May 6th from 4-5 PM
An Evite was sent out in mid-April inviting all of our new members to a New Member Welcoming/Orientation Party. If you are a new member to Venetian and you did not get an invitation, first check your junk/spam folder and if you don’t see the Evite there, please contact our Membership Chair, Catherine Moore. We have lots of information to share about our pool and there will be a special tour for the kids! New members will receive your Membership certificate and will learn all about the fingerprint system that we use for pool entry. Light snacks and beverages will be served.
Hope to see you at the “Dance Hall” on opening day, Saturday, May 6 at 4 PM.
Pool Sharks Announcement
Does your pre-college child want to swim with the sharks? The Pool Sharks, that is. Although practice has already started, it is not too late to join the fun camaraderie of our championship team. Swimmers will enjoy learning swimming skills and games with new and old friends, and gain a chance to compete at the Georgia Tech Pool, home of the 1996 Summer Olympics, for ASA Championships. We welcome swimmers of ALL levels and ages. For more information check out our Web page on the Venetian Pool Web site (click on Swim Team in the navigation menu).
Time Running Out For Free Mile
The clock is ticking down to Saturday’s pool opening and, as it does, this will be a good time to sign up for this year’s 40 Mile Swim Challenge. Of course, you can still sign up after May 6, but, if you sign up before tomorrow, you’ll receive your 15th mile FREE.
To enroll in this year’s challenge, simply email mayahahn@att.net and Iet Maya know that you’re interested. If you completed 40 miles last summer, you’re automatically enrolled for this summer. Otherwise, there’s no cost or risk in signing up and, even if you don’t complete 40 miles this summer, you may be surprised and encouraged by how many miles you do swim during the season.
If you decide to take part in the 40 Mile Swim Challenge on or after opening day, just email Maya and she’ll make a sheet for you to record your mileage or fill out one of the blank pages that will be in the “swimming pool blue” 40 Mile Record Book at the front desk.
Babysitter Information on Your Membership
If a member has any changes with a babysitter — adding one, deleting one, etc. PLEASE make the change at the Venetian front desk. This is the most efficient way to get the change into the computer system. Thanks for your cooperation.
