End of Season Message and Thanks to Outgoing Board Members
We had another super summer season at the Pool and look forward to 2015. A big THANKS to outgoing Board president Lisa Crawford-Mendoza, membership committee chair Nancy Anastasiades, and events committee chair Michele Hicks. Their dedication and hard work made last pool-season so successful. Paul Thim (Facilities and Grounds) was elected to serve another term and says that now that he has figured out how to coordinate Work Day, he looks forward to April 2015. We welcome the new Board members: Catherine Moore, Jill Thompson, and Pat Solomon. Board members and committee chairs information can be found on the website under the “About” and “Staff and Board” tabs.
Committees Need Volunteers
Even though the pool is not open for months, lots of important work is done in the off-season. We have several committees that are looking for volunteers. Most of the work is done through email; so don’t feel that you can’t contribute due to time and travel constraints. If you want to see the committee duties/responsibilities, refer to the Member Matters Tab under Members Info Page on the website. In particular, the Board is asking for help with the Events committee. Contact communications@venetianpools.org if you are interested or need more information.
Special Furniture Committee
Much of our pool furniture dates back quite a few years and some of the newer furniture hasn’t met our expectations. So your board is looking for some volunteers to help explore our options at refurbishing or replacing our inventory of tables, chairs and umbrellas. Please let us know if you can help, as this would be a major addition to the Venetian landscape. Interested parties should contact the board at communications@venetianpools.org.
“Venetian Oasis”
The Board has decided to reclaim some of the property that the pool owns by removing trees and overgrowth in the area west of the pool, between the lap lane side of the pool and N Parkwood Rd. Working with the Master Plan Committee, the Board is evaluating plans to refurbish that area which is currently being referred to as “Venetian Oasis” or “V-Oasis”. The Board looks forward to sharing these plans with members and evaluating the best way to use this refurbished resource to enhance the Venetian experience. Stay tuned for announcements.
