Vote Now for the Board of Directors
I have voted—have you? Cast your vote for the five open positions on the VPCA Board of Directors. The nominees are (in alphabetical order): Barbara Anderson, Nick Cortese, John Dean, April Gabor, John Hall, Rob Katz, Michael Purser, Matt Smith. Their bios and pictures are here at 2013 VPCA Board Nominees, are posted at the pool, and are listed under “Voting Matters” under the Members Only tab after logging onto the website. Ballots may be cast until 9 p.m. this Monday, September 2. Voting instructions may be found here at Venetian Pools Community Association Voting Instructions 2013 or under “Voting Matters”.
To vote on-line you need your username and password for the Venetian website. Contact Sophia Brothers Peterman, communications@venetianpools.org , if you need to have them sent to you. The e-mail will come from Venetian Pools. I am more than happy to do this, but it is a manual process so please save your username and password for the future. After you log in, scroll down on your User Profile. You will see the spaces for five votes. Click on your choices. Then be sure to click on Update Profile at the bottom of the page after casting your vote. To double-check that your vote has been saved, log back into the Venetian website and see if your vote is listed in your profile.
Paper ballots for the VPCA Board of Directors are available at the Front Desk, by clicking here on VPCA Board of Directors Election Ballot 2013, or under “Member Matters” after logging onto the website. You can leave your completed ballot at the Front Desk.
It is possible to change your vote until 9 p.m. this Monday, September 2. If you cast a paper ballot, you can submit another that is dated with a note that it is the one that should be counted. You may also vote on-line—an on-line ballot will be counted instead of a paper ballot if a membership has submitted both. If you voted on-line, change your selection and click on Update Profile. The on-line votes will not be collected until 9 pm this Monday, September 2; they may be changed as often as desired until then.
Lost & Found Going Soon
While you are enjoying the holiday weekend at the pool, be sure to check out the Lost & Found. Wet towels are hung outside at the back of the locker rooms. Everything else is on the shelves just inside the door of the women’s locker room. The remaining items will be donated to a charity after Sunday, September 15.
Sign Up for Fall Extended Lap Swimming
If you would like to sign up for Fall Extended Lap Swimming hours (no free swimming, only lap swimming), please make a check out to “Venetian Pool” and write “Extended Swim” and the name of each participating member/s on the memo line. Bring your check to the pool front desk and have your name added to the Fall Extended Lap Swimming List. The cost is $35 per person.
Fall Extended Swim Procedure: check in at the front desk with your finger scan. The Fall Extended Swim List will be checked for your name. If you have not paid and your name is not on the List, you must pay the full $35 per person before entering. Your name will then be added to the List for the remainder of the Fall Extended Swim. The Fall Extended Swim hours are posted on the pool calendar on the website and are below:
Monday – Friday September 16 – 30 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday September 21 – 22, 28 – 29 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
(The pool will be open for all members through Sunday, September 15. For the September pool hours, check the website.)
Low Country Boil
It is the last big Venetian event of the 2013 season! The Low Country Boil is Sunday, September 15, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. or until the food is gone. What a yummy way to great Fall!
Swim-A-Thon Raises Big Bucks
The money has been counted!! The Venetian Swim-a-Thon raised a record-breaking $8,542.02 for CURE Childhood Cancer this summer. We are truly blessed to donate these funds to CURE in honor of our own beloved Poolshark, Kate Athanassiades, who is a cancer survivor. A special thanks goes out to John Dean and Beth Athanassiades for their support, as well as Lisa Hill, who donated $1,250 from her photography business. Most of all, thank you to the many families who participated in the Swim-a-Thon, as well as those Poolsharks who so generously gave financial donations!
Annual VPCA Meeting
The Annual Venetian Pools Community Association meeting will be in the Dance Hall on Monday, September 16, at 7 p.m. The agenda will include installation of the new Board members, a review of the 2013 season, and preliminary planning for the year to come.
