Cancelled: Fourth of July Celebration
We have all been saying it—rain, rain, go away—but it just does not seem to be working. With nearly certain rain and thunderstorms predicted for tomorrow, the Venetian Fourth of July celebration has been postponed until a date to be announced later. The Fourth guest passes may be refunded or used for the rescheduled festivities. Regular guest passes may be purchased and used tomorrow if the weather clears for some period of time during the day. Any Fourth guest passes which are redeemed up to the 25 ticket cap will be available or the postponed celebration on a first come, first served basis with the limit of 4 passes per membership.
The pool will be open tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with the water closed at 4:00 p.m., subject to early closing due to weather at the discretion of the manager on duty. By the way, the city of Decatur has announced that its celebrations and fireworks have also been cancelled for tomorrow.
Venetian Poolsharks Crowned DeKalb County Champions
Congrats, Poolsharks, on being the 2013 Champions of the Dekalb County Swim League! This win represents a lot of hard work, practice, great coaching, and super parent support.
Deep End Saturday Night
Another Deep End Saturday Night Event is scheduled for this Saturday, July 6, from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. There will be at least 2 short lap lanes for this and the other Deep End Saturday Night Events. The weather forecast is looking good for Saturday, so come on out and enjoy!
Lap Lanes and Special Events
At the special Board meeting last Monday, it was decided to have two short lap lanes during the Deep End Saturday Night Events. For the Fourth (pre-cancellation of the celebration), it was decided to have 2-3 short lap lanes from 10 a.m. – noon. For the Luau and Low Country Boil, it was decided to have 2-3 short lap lanes during the events. The special Fourth hours were also decided to close the water at 4 p.m. and the grounds at 5 p.m. pending the weather. This allows the guards to clean up and be able to participate in the evening festivities.
Too Hot for Comfort
Last week one of the new grills was past hot with all three burners left on high and no food in sight. We got it cooled down, but its proximity to the wood Dance Hall left everyone a bit nervous. Please be sure to turn the grills off when you are finished with them. It will save us having to test our fire extinguisher skills.
Board Meeting this Monday, July 8
The VPCA Board will have its regular meeting in the Dance Hall at the pool this Monday, July 8, from 7 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Any member is welcome to attend.
